Officiating Services FAQ

  • Do you have any restrictions on the type of ceremony you will perform?

    No. As long as it is a legally recognized wedding ceremony, I will perform it. Please see the list of services on the services page to select the one that is best for you.

  • How many times will we meet before the wedding? Do we meet in person or video chat?

    I will meet with couples virtually at least once. The total number of virtual meetings depends on the selected package. Please see the list of services on the services page to select the one that is best for you.

  • How will you be dressed for the ceremony?

    For all officiant package services, I will be dressed in a suit. I can wear other outfits, but the couple is responsible for ordering and purchasing any of these items.

  • How long of a ceremony will you officiate?

    20-30 minutes. This depends on the selected package. Please see the list of services on the services page to select the one that is best for you.

  • Do you attend the dress rehearsal?

    Yes. The max duration of the dress rehearsal is determined by the package selected. Please see the list of services on the services page to select the one that is best for you.

  • Can friends or family members participate in the ceremony?

    Yes, if the ONE-OF-A-KIND service package has been selected.

  • Can we write our own vows?

    Yes, if the WEDDED BLISS or ONE-OF-A-KIND service package has been selected.

  • Do you take care of getting the marriage license signed and recorded with the county?

    The couple will be responsible for going to the county that the wedding will be held in to obtain their marriage license and declaration of intent to be married. Once I have performed the wedding, I will return the completed marriage license back to the county. The couple will be responsible for ordering their own official copies of their marriage license if they choose to do so.

  • I need a (insert item here) for my wedding. Can you provide this?

    I provide no additional items. The couple being married is responsible for any items used in the ceremony. I will also be unable to provide a PA system.

  • What is your official title?

    I am an ordained minister.

  • Do you only officiate weddings in the Chicago suburbs?

    Yes. I only officiate weddings near the south suburbs of Chicago (Joliet, Tinley Park, Naperville, Schaumburg, etc.). If your wedding is outside of this area, please consider using one of my consulting services to have one of your friends or family members perform your wedding.   • Do your services include the documents I need to become an official officient?

    No. It is important for yo to check with your state and county that the wedding will be performed in, as different locations have different requirement. These services are designed to help you understand the process of conducting a dress rehearsal and wedding ceremony.

  • Does each state have different requirements to become a wedding officiant?

    Yes. It is important for you to be familiar with the requirements of the county and state where your couple’s ceremony will take place.

  • I live in a different state than where the wedding will be held? Which state requirements do I need to follow?

    The state in which the wedding is taking place dictates the requirements you will need to follow. It is also important for you to know what the county of that state requires.
